Apple iPod touch Car Bean Bag Dash & Windshield Holder - Gomadic Brand Review

I purchased this mount for my iPod Touch primarily because here in California it's illegal to mount anything to the windshield.

This is basically a heavy duty bean bag with a metal plate attached to it.The bracket and arm attaches to this metal plate with a suction cup (and can therefore be directly attached to the windshield itself without using the bean bag if need be).The brackets that hold the iPod are heavily padded and grip tightly and securely, and also allow for easy attach and release.

I've driven around with this mount for about a month time and I've got to say it works great.It doesn't slip or slide and the iPod stays in place and barely even vibrates.The screen is within easy reach (I have a Toyota Corolla) and I have no trouble seeing the screen while keeping my eyes on the road (it's certainly better than glancing down to fumble withan iPod that's in your hand!).

The only thing I could criticize it for would be that the arm is so heavy duty that you have to really wrench it to put it in landscape mode if you start in portrait mode.I have found, however, that the bracket extends itself out fairly wide and can just fit the iPod that way, so it's not a dealbreaker.A tiny bit more extension would be great, or maybe some kind of clever release and rotate mechanism.

I like that I can keep the iPod it its DLO JamJacket sleeve because that's fairly bulky. It mounts and releases quickly with just one hand and stays secure the whole way.Great product!

Apple iPod touch Auto Vent Holder with Car Charger - Uses Gomadic TipExchange Review

I got this a few days ago. So far, so good!The item is well built for the price and pretty easy to set up. The pics and description don't show it, but this thing can be rotated 90 degrees so that you can put your iPod/Phone in panoramic view as well.

The only downside seems to be adjusting the item once it's in place. The clips are difficult to remove, and every time I've had to make a major adjustment (moving from one vent to another), I had to completely remove the item from the clips.The upside to this is that it won't fall off the vent easy.

The only other con is that the instructions aren't extremely clear and there are no pictures.But they do the job well enough.

But its very stable and does what its supposed to. A good item well worth the price!

The Gomadic Flexible windshield holder is great for holding all my electronic devices.I've used it for my iPhone, iPod, my GPS.It easly adapts to fit most electronics.It slides and snaps into many different configurations.Also, my experience with the Gomadic staff has been superb.

Please keep in mind, though, if you are using the Archos 5 as a GPS, this holder or any other universal hold will not work.You need to buy the Archos "company" product in order for the GPS to work.It cost $125+.

Item arrived 2 days after order and it does exactly what I need. During long 40 min drives to school I was tired of listening to commercial after commercial on the radio... My Incredible was able to play a clear last.fm throughout the car via this item. The phone charger is a nice feature as it allowed me to run my audio apps without draining my battery. As with my experience with most fm transmitters, the volume isn't as loud as I would have liked but it does the job. Everything is easy to set up as well. I am very satisfied with this item.

Suction Cup Car Windshield and Vent Mount for PDA Smart Phone iPod iPhone Blackberry and treo - Universal fits everything from 50mm. to 90mm (1.9 to 3.5 inches) Review

This does what it says it will, it's not marketed to be anything but a windshield mount.This is fine for keeping your PDA, iPod Touch, iPhone, etc up and at a convenient viewing level. Great for keeping track of mileage or for viewing a gps navigation app, or for any of the other travel related apps available.

The main complaint I have with it, and it's a rather large one (for my uses, at least,) is that when sitting flat on the base of the holder, the bottom covers up the charging port for the iPhone and iPod Touch (maybe other units as well, I can only speak to the ones I have used it with.) Since the Apple units are notorious battery gobblers, it is almost a must to have it on a charger. The main saving grace is the vice-like clip holding the top of the unit in place.The clip will tighten enough to allow you to clip your unit so it is off the bottom and therefore you can connect it to a car charger. However, I always feel like one good pothole is going to send it to the floor, but it has stayed in place so far.

Bottom line, for an inexpensive window mount for your PDA/Blackberry/iPhone, you could do worse, and for the price, it seems to work just fine.

I think devices like this don't require huge reviews...
I can just list Cons and Pros of it:
so...
Pros:
better then standard ones design;
you can move parts easily so can adjust for exact device...;
fixes perfectly on windshield;
flexible mounting arms so you can achieve any angle for plate setup;
etc....etc...

Cons:
the only con I've yet detected was that black plastic dome covering suction cup needs some hardening as after 2-3 removals and installations it starts cracking... just a metal (aluminum or similar) ring might help to improve this;
