Apple iPod touch Car Bean Bag Dash & Windshield Holder - Gomadic Brand Review

I purchased this mount for my iPod Touch primarily because here in California it's illegal to mount anything to the windshield.

This is basically a heavy duty bean bag with a metal plate attached to it.The bracket and arm attaches to this metal plate with a suction cup (and can therefore be directly attached to the windshield itself without using the bean bag if need be).The brackets that hold the iPod are heavily padded and grip tightly and securely, and also allow for easy attach and release.

I've driven around with this mount for about a month time and I've got to say it works great.It doesn't slip or slide and the iPod stays in place and barely even vibrates.The screen is within easy reach (I have a Toyota Corolla) and I have no trouble seeing the screen while keeping my eyes on the road (it's certainly better than glancing down to fumble withan iPod that's in your hand!).

The only thing I could criticize it for would be that the arm is so heavy duty that you have to really wrench it to put it in landscape mode if you start in portrait mode.I have found, however, that the bracket extends itself out fairly wide and can just fit the iPod that way, so it's not a dealbreaker.A tiny bit more extension would be great, or maybe some kind of clever release and rotate mechanism.

I like that I can keep the iPod it its DLO JamJacket sleeve because that's fairly bulky. It mounts and releases quickly with just one hand and stays secure the whole way.Great product!

Blackberry Curve Car Cup Holder - Gomadic Brand Review

I like this much better than any of the dash-mounted holders I've used in the past.Very sturdy doesn't feel like it would come apart or the plastic would snap easily.My biggest concern was how adjustable the grips for the blackberry device would be.I use the "Otter Box" shell on my BB which is significantly larger than the standard BB skins/shells.I was pleased to find that the grips are extremely adjustable and my BB fit fine.The grips are so adjustable that my Garmin GPS fits in the grips as well!

GPS 1601 Case w/ Magnet Base Review

The item I ordered was the 1601 w/magnet base. The case is clear plastic which you can see in the photos, but the photos do not do justice to the quality of this product. The plastic is very thick and durable with a tough high quality hinge and clasp. The magnet is definitely strong enough to place this item without any fear of the box falling off in rough road conditions, and there is a ring gasket around the lip of the box making it water tight. The particular GPS locator I'm using is a Zoombak Universal locator, and it fits nicely in this Otterbox. It was a little loose in the box, so I added one small sheet of bubble wrap in the lid side, and that did the trick. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone needing a good water tight box for their GPS devise and have concerns about it falling off your car in rough (bumpy) road conditions.

Motorola DROID Car Cup Holder - Gomadic Brand Review

have 04 f-150 with center console.I have long legs so seat is all the way back. Anything on dash or window is too far away to manage. have it in cup holder by gear shifter, but is automatic so don't have to shift gears. The bottom expands to fit the cup holder and hasn't came loose yet. It didn't come with a manual or anything, but was able to figure out adjustments.

Apple iPhone 3G Car Vent Holder - Gomadic Brand Review

Despite my inability to notice that the description specifically states horizontal vents and the location I had chosen to install this unit were vertical vents, the product still worked for me. Removing it in this installation scenario my prove impossible (unless I break either the vents or the vent clips), but by installing it with vertical vents the unit angles towards the driver and works perfectly.

I did install one clip initially and found that it was difficult to remove, but unlike other products, with the addition of screwdriver to assist, I was able to remove the clip.I then had to attach both clips to the unit and simply press into place.

The flexibility and quality of the unit is superb.The flexibility of the side clips and the bottom rest bars allows for use of many phones, or even the addition of a BT audio unit to the bottom of the iPhone while still allowing the use of the holder.

My wife loves it.!

Apple iPod touch Auto Vent Holder with Car Charger - Uses Gomadic TipExchange Review

I got this a few days ago. So far, so good!The item is well built for the price and pretty easy to set up. The pics and description don't show it, but this thing can be rotated 90 degrees so that you can put your iPod/Phone in panoramic view as well.

The only downside seems to be adjusting the item once it's in place. The clips are difficult to remove, and every time I've had to make a major adjustment (moving from one vent to another), I had to completely remove the item from the clips.The upside to this is that it won't fall off the vent easy.

The only other con is that the instructions aren't extremely clear and there are no pictures.But they do the job well enough.

But its very stable and does what its supposed to. A good item well worth the price!

Pro.Fit UltiMount V2 Universal-fit mount for electronic devices (Model UL-242BG)

With a lot of research behind me, I decided to purchase the 3G miCradle and the UltiMount V2 Universal-fit mount for my new 3G iPhone. I travel a lot and have cut back on flying preferring rather to drive as much as I can so I wanted something that is as close to OEM and professional looking as possible in my Chrysler 300.

I was impressed with the overall look and feel when I first opened the box and really impressed with the fit, materials chosen, and quality after examining the products. The 3G iPhone fits snugly but slides smoothly into the miCradle. The UltiMount was chosen after checking the dimensions to position the iPhone just to the right of my right hand resting at about 2 o'clock on the steering wheel. The mount positions the iPhone between the instrument panel bezel and the center/left air conditioning outlet on the dash. Note: this position most likely would not work with a car that has a steering column mounted shifter but is great with my Chrysler 300 center console mounted shifter.

The circular rubber adhesive mount fit very nicely on the inside of the instrument panel bezel and is very unobtrusive.The UltiMount even has a ball joint that allows you to rotate the 3G iPhone just in case you need to watch a YouTube video as you drive down the highway...just kidding about driving while watching the video, but you get the idea. The miCradle even came with a rubber trim piece with an unobtrusive Pro Fit logo to cover the mounting screws used to attach the miCradle to the UltiMount. The UltiMount mounting plate also has recessed openings for the nuts so that all you need to attach the screws is a screw driver. Pro Fit thought of everything with this simple yet well engineered mounting system.

Pro Fit makes a wide variety of mounts for the miCradle including vehicle specific mounts but I wanted the option of moving this to another vehicle. You can do the research at [...].

I have purchased several different car mounts and wish that I had found Pro Fit before and save my money. This UltiMount and miCradle was less than $50 and worth every penny. I have low expectation of mass produced plastic devices, but Pro Fit had quality in mind when they chose the materials for this application. Every once in a while we come across a company that just gets it and Pro Fit is one of those companies. Good job Pro Fit.
