Cingular Go Phone: Blackberry 8300 Curve Car Vent Holder

I travel a lot and have the GPS service on my Blackberry and I needed a way to hold my phone.I looked at several brands and Gomadic seemed to have a good design.

Well, it turns out that the vent holder didn't work as well as I hoped.I don't really blame the Gomadic design as all the others I researched appeared similar or less capable.The problem is that there are too many different styles of vents.Some had louvers that were to thick or too deep or the control slider was too big.All in all I could never find a vent that this could really fit well and I tried in over a dozen rental cars.Usually it was not able to get a good stable grip.

So why do I give the product FOUR STARS?Two reasons.One because the holder for the phone is a good design.The side grips are very adjutable which is important because I needed to be able to adjust the side grips so that they would not block the power plug so I could plug into the DC outlet in the car.Second, because Gomadic is not a one trick pony.

The vent clip was pretty much a flop but with the Gomadic holder you can easily detach the vent clip and replace it with a windshield suction mount.I also bought their beanbag (which the windshield mount attaches to so now I can have two mounting options.)I prefer the bean bag because California doesn't allow windshield suction mounts and the bean bag places the phone closer so I can reach it better.

I have seen no other mount that has multiple interchangeable options for attachment.Gomadic customer service is great also.I couldn't figure out how to order just the extra mount options but a quick call and they pointed me right to the right web page.

Now I am extremely happy with the holder!
