Rating this unit alone, I'd give it 5 stars... but as it works as part of the system that includes the phones... or should I say it HAS to work as part of that system... it loses some ground.Some things you should know...I bought several of these to serve as a whole house intercom system and room monitors for the kids.Well, you can't do room monitoring between two of these, only from one of the phones to one of these... and the phone must be off the cradle, so it's draining it's battery all night.I got around that by turning the volume down on the baby's end and putting the two units into intercom.Works, but not ideal.Between each other, they are AWESOME intercoms.But when integrated with the phones, not so much.Between two of the boxes, you can call and start talking, if a phone is involved, it requires someone to walk over and push talk.Bottom line is while there are some issues with the entire network... it's a DECT wireless intercom system, which is fantastic.Very clear, and very cheap.We just stuck the phone portions in rooms we hardly ever use and the system works just great.
