APC 100-240V Surge Protector for Notebook (PNOTEPROC6) Review

Great design. Gateway Laptops use a 3-prong power adapter. My previous laptop was a 2-prong Toshiba Laptop which I used the APC PNOTEPROC8 suppressor for years. Provides a "piece of mind" to prevent my laptop from getting fried during a power surge. California have risks of rolling blackouts and brownouts that can damage sensitive equipment. Product comes with a $75,000 guarantee against damage. Because this suppressor is plugged between the computer's power cord the adapter and held tightly by a Velcro band (which I reinforce it with an additional small Velcro square), you can feel comfortable plugging directly into a wall outlet. I carried my to the Philippines and plugged into a 220 volt outlet and it worked flawlessly. Only complaint is the description on Amazon. The main description should include whether it is a 3-prong or 2-prong model. Another reviewer mistakenly ordered the wrong model because of this.

Southwestern Bell S60860 Travel Telephone Surge Protector Review

After going through about eight answering machines and telephones and grumbling about how "phones these days are such cheap, crappy product-simulations designed to be chucked in a landfill every six months," I spotted one of these little devices in a grocery store and installed it.Lo and behold, turns out it was NOT the phones that were the problem, but just our unstable electric service.

After installing this surge protector, not only did the answerphone stop blowing out, so did all of the phones in the rest of the house.Tuns out, answering machines and cordless phones, since they are plugged in to the electrical system, not only make the phone they are attached to vulnerable, but also any hits they take can travel throughout your home's phone lines and mess up every other phone you have, too!But I haven't had any trouble since starting to use these devices.

Be aware, though, these devices themselves are NOT indestructible.Keep an occasional eye on them - if the little red light goes off, that means they have taken a hit and need to be replaced.I keep a spare around now. Replacing a $10 device every year or so sure beats replacing a phone or two every couple of months!

Kensington 62635F SmartSockets Portable Surge Protector with Built In Phone Line Splitter Review

Years ago you could buy cheap, stand-alone surge protectors for your modem. Those days are long gone and now they try to get you to buy expense equipment that *includes* the surge suppressor. I've blown out a lot of suppressors over the years and that is all I want, in the cheapest package possible.

While I don't need the AC filter features that this unit offers, this *is* the cheapest thing that fulfills my needs. Buy several at one time to reduce the shipping costs per unit and these units are a steal.

Belkin MasterCube F9H120-CW 1-Outlet Wall-Mount Surge Protector Review

I live in the Colorado mountains at 10000 ft elevation. The house sits on a large rock outcropping just barely covered by dirt. Storms build here before moving out east to the plains. The rock outcropping is a great attractor of lightning. Before using the Belkin surge protector we lost many a phone and modem if we forgot to unplug the phone lines. We got hit with lightning last week, enough to rattle the windows, and the surge protector took the hit and protected the phone. I'm sold. I'm buying two more, one to replace the old one and one spare. Its a lot cheaper to replace the surge protector than the phone.

Belkin 12-Outlet Home/Office Surge Protector with Phone/Ethernet/Coaxial Protection and Extended Cord Review

There are a lot of reviews on this product, but I had to add mine. After lightning struck a tree next to our house, our neighbors suffered several appliance failures, including a blown TV. Ours, including our computer survived (plugged into one of these). More amazingly, the outlet this was plugged into blew out of the wall, frying the protector, the TV lost its color for 3 days, but then popped back inand we are still using it. Our electrician says, he's never seen anything like it, but he's recommending this surge protector now.
