SanDisk SDSDQ-002G-A11M MicroSD 2GB Card (Black) Review

Buying a memory card generally is either a 5-star or 1-star experience -- either it works or it doesn't.In my case, this SanDisk 2GB MicroSD card worked perfectly in my LG enV3 VX9200 Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless).I'm thinking about buying a second card to use with my Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS Receiver outdoor GPS, so I can load the entire U.S. road system into it.

The packaging isn't the "Amazon Frustration-free" type -- get your scissors out to cut into the hardshell plastic that contains the memory card.The card comes with a nice, over-sized plastic holder so if you do need to transport it, you'll do so safely and without losing it inside your briefcase or purse.

For applications like cell phone and GPS, where data transfer speed isn't as critical as it might be with other applications (like digital cameras) I found this SanDisk memory card to be a wonderful, economical value -- so very inexpensive to buy, and it qualifies for free shipping, too!If anything *does* go wrong, you've always got Amazon's Customer Service who will immediately ship-out a replacement for you.Highly recommended!

Kingston 2 GB microSD Flash Memory Card SDC/2GBSP (Single Pack) Review

This card wouldn't work right until it was formatted in Windows. I have about 6 MicroSD card readers and only 1 of them would read the card properly so that Windows could format it. I suspect that because of this, most people would just think the card is bad when in fact it's not.Once the card is formatted by Windows it will be readable by all your card readers without issue. Very strange. I blame Kingston as they should have formatted the card properly before packaging them. It was a very frustrating process to get the card working.

SanDisk 2 GB Class 2 SD Flash Memory Card SDSDB-2048-A11 Review

I've been using the SanDisk standard speed SD card series for four years and have never had a problem with these inexpensive, yet reliable cards. My oldest one (a 512MB) is still used very frequently, having captured thousands of photographs. Now that the prices are getting lower and the sizes bigger, I would suggest that if you're only shooting still shots, 2GB is probably way more than you'll ever need. A 2GB card will probably hold about 900 photos depending on your camera's megapixels and JPEG compression. That's like 40+ rolls of 35mm film! However, if your camera shoots video, this card is steal since you'll never know when you need more space.

FOR KODAK OWNERS: In July 2006, I replaced a SanDisk regular SD card like this one with a SanDisk Ultra II card for my Kodak DX7590, because I was hoping that it would allow my camera to write high-quality 5MP pictures faster. But to my surprise, it timed exactly the same. So I emailed Kodak, and this was their response: "We appreciate your interest in high speed memory for your digital camera. Our cameras are designed to operate, write and read SD cards at set voltage speeds. Therefore, there is no advantage to using faster memory in Kodak cameras."

So if you use a Kodak dock or USB cable to transfer images from a Kodak camera to your computer, this standard SanDisk card is all you need...there's no advantage to paying extra for a high-speed card like the Ultra II. However, if you use a card reader to get images from the SD card to your computer, and speed is important to you, then it might be worthwhile to pay a little more for the Ultra II since read and write speeds through the card reader could be substantially faster.
