I applied a clear screen protector under the decal border first and I am very glad I did that becauseapplying it on top of the raised border would have produced bubbles. I really really like that the border screen decal covers that Verizon symbol. I don't really like how Verizon insists that your phone is a walking advertisement with their logo on your phone.
The matching wall paper came to me in an email and was easy to transfer with a data cable. They will also send it to you in a text if you want. It would match the decal border perfectly but Verizon insists that you have these borders on the top and bottom of your screen that prevents it from looking perfectly uniform like the illustration shown. My phone has a choice of only either a gray, blue, or red border for the screen. So I ended up going with a funny gif as my background wallpaper instead because I just liked the way it looks better.
The back of the decal, the sticky side, is an adhesive that is sort of honeycomb in pattern so that when you first apply the decal it doesn't stick as well as when you finally press down. I feel like with a few months of use (I approximate it will last 4-6 months on the buttons) the decal buttons will probably end up coming off but I also think I will be tired of the pattern when that happens. I plan to just remove the decals on the buttons only when one comes off, like all the other brands of skin that have no buttons, and then after a while maybe getting another pattern.
The plaid pattern I thought was so cute initially was probably the most difficult to apply. I did not think about how difficult it would be to match up all the tiny lines of the pattern at first but I do really look the final effect after spending a couple of hours trying to make it match up as perfectly as I possibly could.
The decal itself doesn't even cover the outside border of the phone. I think that is sort of stupid because that's where the phone hits first if you accidentally drop it but on the plus side that also means that it adheres strongly to flatter straighter surfaces and will not curl off of curved edges or obstruct any of the docks. I can see a more benefits to the decal not going around the sides.
If I had it to do all over again I would have gotten the red Samsung Intensity and the red plaid decal instead to produce the uniform look I was really after.
I got the crystal hard case to go over the phone but I don't like how much more bigger and bulkier that makes my phone. I may try to get the invisible shield decal to go over the one with the pattern.
My package said it is made by a company called decalgirl.
Overall I really like the final effect. These vinyl decal skins do look good but just be prepared for a sticker basically that you are putting on your phone.
