Siemens S79H Gigaset Expansion Handset for S795 Review

Siemens S79H Gigaset Expansion Handset for S795This is a nice handset for a Gigaset VoIP/Dect 6 system.I added this handset to a Gigaset 580IP system and overall this handset is much nicer than the 58A handset that comes with the 580IP base station.Button action is good, feature set is much improved, and the directory is multi-level (multiple phone numbers for each entry). The USB connection and synchronization with Outlook is great.

The handset has a few issues, which I hope will be fixed in future firmware releases.Number one is the redail capability: when using the redial list, the handset always trys to redial using the landline (even when VoIP is configured as the primary line). This doesn't work in my situation, since I don't have a landline.Another issue is the "call lists" feature of the handset, which, according to the manual, is supposed to show 3 different types of entries: accepted calls, missed calls, and outgoing calls. My handset only has missed calls...and like the redial list, you can not dial a missed call, because the handset is trying to dial on a non-existent fixed line.
