The "compatible" charger that Nokia recommends for most of their newer phones is the AC-8U.Unfortunately you'll find you have to pay substantially more to pick it up.This is what is posted on Nokia's web site about the AC-8U: "Charge any Nokia device with a Nokia 2 mm charging interface."Sounds good! Now contrast that to what it says about the AC-4U (the item being sold here):
"* WARNING: Use only batteries, chargers, and enhancements approved by Nokia for use with this particular model. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or warranty, and may be dangerous."
Uh oh!That doesn't sound good! Not only may it invalidate your warrany, it "may be dangerous".Beware of exploding batteries!
This is inexcusable on Nokia's part, especially if people have actually damaged their phones this way.It also makes me wonder about what might happen with the "imitation" chargers you can buy at reputable places like Target and Radioshack. Here's a hint, Nokia: If using an old model charger can cause your phone to explode, alter the connector type so no one uses the wrong one by accident!
