I recently purchased this versatile cordless phone system and am very pleased with it. All of the features are convenient and work well and the voice quality is very good. The four handsets may at first seem excessive, but actually they provide convenient access to a phone no matter where one is in one's house. For example, I now have enough handsets to add them to the kitchen and main bathroom, which can be quite handy at times. Also convenient is the fact that only the main unit requires a phone outlet -- the three extension units requires only power outlets for their chargers. Another feature I like is that each handset can store up to 50 names and phone numbers. And, once programmed in one handset, entries can easily be tranferred to the other handsets if desired. Another convenient feature is that the system can be used as an intercom, with each handset capable of calling each of the other handsets. This is the most complete and most convenient phone system I've ever had and I like the quality and reliability of Panasonic products. If you want the features of this versatile phone system with fewer handsets please consider model KX-TG5633 which has two extension units or KX-TG5632 which has only one extension unit.

Panasonic KX-TG6054B 5.8 GHz FHSS Expandable Digital Cordless Phone System with 4 Handsets Review

I have been a loyal Panasonic cordless telephone customer for many years now.I am always impressed with the stylish look, awesome reception, useful and fun features, durability and reasonable cost of Panasonic cordless telephones.Even back in the days of 900 MHz cordless phones, Panasonic always seemed to offer the most features and best quality for the money.Well the KX-TG6054B does not dissapoint in the least bit!

To be honest I was a little concerned with the new design, which does away with the traditional antenna "nub" that Panasonic is known for.I was afraid that the lack of this antenna would affect reception and limit distance I could travel with the phone from the base.Well I am happy to say that I was wrong.My wife can walk several houses down the street (city street mind you, were houses are not very far apart) and still receive calls on the new cordless phone.Reception is flawless, with no static, and no dropout sound.The tonal quality of the sound from each receiver is very good.We don't particularly care much for the "Voice Enhancer Technology" as it seems to make the sound a bit artificial.Still I can see where some may like it, as it increases volume and clarity of sound when speaking with a distant (soft spoken) sounding caller.The backlit LCD display is big and clear, even easy to read in moderate sunlight.I will not go into all of the features of this phone, as the list is quite extensive.However, I would like to note that the talking caller ID, which may seem a bit silly to some at first, is really a handy feature that we have grown to love.The text to speech technology in this phone leaves a little to be desired, but you get used to it after awhile and you can always make out who it is that is calling.It pronounces words exactly as they are spelled, for the most part, so a last name like Scholten is pronounced "Sholten".As I said, you get used to it.=o)

My only dissapointment with this phone is the lack of backlit keypads.I specifically chose this model, after doing a bit of research on the Panasonic website, because it was claimed to have backlit keys.I purchased two sets of these phones (one for us and one for a neighbor friend) and I can definately tell you that the claim of backlit keys is false.It may not seem like a big deal to most people, but if you want a phone that you can see the keypad in the dark, while trying to dial, then this becomes an issue of frustration.At least the LCD display is backlit so that you can see when you have mashed down the wrong digits while trying to dial a phone number.I also miss an included belt clip for the telephone handsets, which Panasonic had always provided for models in the past.If you like to use a heaset with your phone, as my wife often does while running her home daycare business, then you find that a belt clip is a needed accessory for clipping the phone to your belt or pants pocket.Sure the phones are small enough that you could probably cram it into your pocket, but then you would surely find that buttons would be pushed when inserting the phone and/or when walking around with it in the pocket.

I also want to note that the 5.8 GHz Panaonic phones will not win any awards for longest battery life; at least when it comes to talk time.The best we can get out of a full charge is about 5 hours of talk time.Still, with 4 handsets at your disposal you can certainly keep enough of them charged to hand off a call to another handset when the low battery alert warns you that you are on borrowed time.Several other manufacturers have managed to squeeze out far more talk time on their 5.8 GHz phones so I don't know why Panasonic always seems to come up weak in this category.However, if you are looking for a cordless phone that will impress you with its long battery life then you should consider one of the Panasonic Dect 6.0 models.They claim to last up to 17 hours of talk time on a single charge.That is simply amazing to me!My next choice of cordless phone may just be a Panasonic Dect 6.0 system.

Overall I would highly recommend the Panasonic KX-TG6054B.Amazon has a great price on this system, which includes not two, not three, but FOUR cordless handsets.You will not be dissapointed with the sound quality and plethora of features of this system.Unless Panasonic decides to cut corners and begins producing far less impressive cordless phones in the future, I will remain a very loyal customer.

Panasonic KX-TG6074B 5.8 GHz Digital Cordless Answering System with 4 Handsets Review

My previous phone was also a Panasonic, a 2.4GHz model whose speakerphone feature had gotten to where it was pretty much unusable. Note that I use the phone company's voice mail instead of this phone's message system, so I can't comment on any aspect of that feature.

What I like:

- This phone doesn't interfere with my Wi-Fi signal.

- The handset speakerphone feature works really well. Volume is plenty loud and everyone I've asked has said it's very clear, some even being surprised to learn I'm using a speakerphone.

- General interface design is pretty good, which makes it easier to use all those fancy features than products that make you wonder if the person who designed them ever actually used them. ;-)

- Something I've wanted for a long time in a phone: five-number redial history (ten would be better ;-).

- Smaller and lighter than other phones I've used, and no external antenna. Not too small, just more convenient to carry in my pocket when I'm outside.

- Back of handset is flat opposite the keys, so you can use the keypad when it's lying flat, but the speaker is higher up where a curve in the handset puts it off the surface. Nice thinking on their part.

- Handsets have an LED that blinks for an incoming call, glows yellow when charging, and green when handset is fully charged.

- My old Panasonic's power adapter used about 4 watts according to my P3 International Kill-a-Watt Electricity Usage Monitor and was hot to the touch (about 130 degrees), so I was concerned this system would use 16 watts or so to run all of the power adapters. Turns out that all of them combined only use about one watt total, which saves me about $0.25/month on my electric bill over my old single-handset phone. Nice. (Every little bit helps. ;-)

- The Talking Caller ID is nice. It's not perfect, but it's nice if it's taking me a while to get to the phone. Lets me know if I should hurry or not. Of course, with four handsets I never have very far to go anymore. ;-)

- Did I mention there are four handsets? Sooo much more convenient that one.

What I wish were different (why I'd dock it half a star):

- I wish there were lighted keys on the handset keypads. Dialing in low light conditions tends to be a bit challenging.

- In what seems to be a downside of those really energy efficient chargers, these are not rapid-charge systems. If you run a battery down (easier to do on long calls using the speakerphone mode) it will take several hours to recharge fully. This is just a minor quibble, though, as you can always switch to a different handset during a call and you get four of the darned things, and it's a reasonable tradeoff to get the power consumption down to such low levels. I use the speakerphone mode almost exclusively, and it hasn't ever caused a problem, I just noticed that it takes a long time to do a full recharge.

- There's no "master" phonebook. You can add one handset's phonebook to another handset, but you have to do that three times to get it on all handsets and if you add a number to one it doesn't appear on the others. However, I like having separate phonebooks, as I keep business phone numbers on only one handset to speed access to personal numbers on the other handsets.

These are all minor quibbles, though, and overall I'm very happy with this item. Don't know why Amazon doesn't seem to stock it, though. I wonder if it sells out fast. As I write this the description says it ships in one to two months. I had to wait a good while for mine as well.

Panasonic KX-TG6053S 5.8 GHz FHSS Expandable Digital Cordless Phone System with 3 Handsets Review

This is a great phone bundle that is very reasonably priced for a base station and 3 handsets with chargers.

This phone has most features you would expect on a 5.6GHz system--digital answering machine, Caller ID, phonebook with up to 50 numbers, etc. But it has a few features that most cordless systems do not--Talking Caller ID, backlit white display on screen and Voice Enhancer technology for clearer reception.

But like all cordless systems, it does have some drawbacks. I wish the handset keys were backlit so you could dial in a darkened room. There is no way to name each handset such as "Kitchen" or "Living Room." Instead each handset has a number from 1-3. Another drawback is that the answering machine does not display the current number of messages. Instead it just glows red when a new message comes in.

The other major drawback is that many of the settings are hidden from the standard "Menu" key. Instead you have to hit the "Menu" button and input a 2 or 3 digit numeric code. Simple functions such as tone on/off or ringer select can only be found this way. The only way to find the numbers that control functions is by going through the manual.

There is no "perfect" cordless phone out there. But for the variety of features and reasonable cost, the KX-TG6053S is hard to beat.

I have just had this phone for a few days and I really like it.I was having problems finding a phone that was clear.Due to my Verizon dsl, clarity on the other phones I tried was not very good, but this one is great.I like that stored numbers are easily retrieved, and I don't have to go through every number until I find the one I want. The only thing that it does not have is the ability to use a head set with it.I had bought a head set at the same time, but there is no port for it on the handset. That is the only feature I miss. All in all, a great phone

This is a GREAT phone system.For much less than $200, you can put a phone in every room in your home.I bought an additional handset to max out the set with six phones.

The phones look great and seem well-built.There's a long list of useful features--too numerous to mention.However, programming this phone is simple and straightforward.The owner's manual is easy to understand.

I've owned phone systems where registering/de-registering the handsets with the base unit was a nightmare.Not so with this Panasonic!Simply refer to the owners manual, press a couple of buttons and the job is done!This set of five phones comes already registered with the base unit.

The Caller ID screen is easy to see--even without my reading glasses.The keypad buttons are lit, a very useful feature in dark rooms.

The 'Talking Caller ID' is a bit comical with it's mispronunciations, but you quickly get used to it and it's VERY convenient.

The intercom system is simple to use.You can call all over the house without taking a step.Be aware this is an intercom system--NOT a paging system.

A person with average or normal hearing shouldn't have any trouble with the loudness of the ringtones, handset volume or speakerphone.However, I believe that someone with moderate hearing loss might experience some difficulty with the overall loudness at times.My only criticism is that this phone could be a little louder.It shouldn't be a problem with most people, however.

The speakerphone on the base unit features a seperate keypad and can actually be used as an extra phone.

It is difficult to tell from the photograph, but one phone is white--not metallic.We use that one in the kitchen.

The new 1.9 GHz band is great!I live in a big, old house spread out over 2 1/2 floors.Signal coverage is impressive and consistent with no detectable 'dead spots' or interference.This unit has good coverage well beyond our property line.You needn't worry about microwave ovens, wireless modems, wireless doorbells and garage door openers.The new 1.9 GHz band is vastly superior to the congested 2.4 and 5.8 ghz bands.Security on this phone is great, too.There's absolutely no chance your neighbors will overhear your conversations because the signal is digitalized.

Thank goodness the days of expensive, proprietary batteries are over!This system uses two inexpensive, rechargeable AAA batteries which are available everywhere.

I bought this unit for a family member who has suffered two strokes.He walks with a great deal of difficulty and sometimes falls.With this phone system, he always has a phone nearby.His chances of being able to reach a phone in the event of an emergency is greatly improved.You may want to consider this phone system for an elderly person or someone with medical/mobility problems.Although this family member has trouble understanding some things, he has absolutely NO trouble understanding or operating this phone system!In fact, he LOVES this phone and it has become his link to the outside world.This phone gives me some peace of mind should there ever be an emergency.

When it comes to expandable phone systems these days, there's a lot of garbage on the market.My experience is that this Panasonic system is well worth the money and I highly recommend it.

Panasonic Dect 6.0 Series 4 Handset Cordless Phone System with Answering System (KX-TG1034S) Review

This is a great telephone.We were looking for a replacement for our older 2.4GHz phone which had two handsets...some of the buttons didn't work very well and it suffered from interference in the kitchen when using the microwave.Was thinking 5.8GHz and hadn't heard of Dect 6.0; check out [...]

This phone is getting close to a cell phone in terms of features...full display (monochrome), multi-segment battery meter, phone book, multiple selectable ring tones, call timer, each handset has a speakerphone,etc.The menus and voice prompt for the answering machine can do english or spanish.One interesting aspect is that many programmable items are done on a per-handset basis, so for example one handset could have its own unique ring tone.Address book entries can be entered into any handset and then kept local to that handset or transferred over to a specific handset or to all handsets.When we got the phone I put in about 15 numbers, and then in a single 5 second operation transferred all those entries to all of the other handsets.

One thing I've always hated about cordless phones is that replacement batteries are typically expensive and use outdated (NiCd) technology.This phone however uses two AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries in each handset.So no more searching for a replacement battery specifically made for this phone.

Only two quibbles.The answering machine does not display how many messages there are, there's just a single light that flashes (on the base unit, as well as on each handset if desired (programmable)) if there are any new messages.If you listen to and keep one message and delete the others, the new message light goes out and there's no way to tell by looking at the unit that any messages are stored.This is an issue in the following situation:When I listen to messages and save one because it's for my wife, then when she comes home she looks and doesn't see any indicator that there's a message waiting.So each of us needs to get into the habit of pressing the message button to check regardless of whether or not the light is flashing.The answering machine CAN be disabled however (and each handset can be set to display a message waiting indicator when using voicemail from the phone company).Total message time capacity is 16 minutes including the outgoing message.

Other minor beef, and this is very minor, is that only two handsets can be used concurrently for a call.So you can't have the whole family on their own handset talking to grandpa.But honestly we've never used more than 2 phones at a time so this isn't really an issue, but it would be nice.
