Uniden TCX805 Accessory Handset For One- or Two-Line Systems (Silver/Black) Review

I bought 3 of these handsets to work with the new Uniden TRU8866 Expandable Phone System I bought from Amazon too.

I bought the TCX805 handset because the TCX860 handset was not available from Amazon at the time.The TCX860 is the handset that Uniden intended to be the matched expansions to the TRU8866.

I could have bought a like-new TCX860 handset directly from Uniden.

My only concern about the TCX805 was that it would not color match the TRU8866, but the Amazon picture of the TCX805 showed it to match the TCX860, and the description explicitly says "black".

After using the handsets for several months, I can say that the TCX805 functions the same as the TCX860.The only difference is that it does not have the same face plate.The TCX805 has a bright silver face plate, and the TCX860 has a dark smoke grey face plate.

Amazon's picture of the TCX860 is accurate, but the picture of the TCX805 is inaccurate.

I've attached a picture of the two handsets together.The TCX860 is on the left, and the TCX805 is on the right.

Overall, I've been happy with the functionality and looks of the phone.And, truly, the different face plates haven't been as big a deal as I thought since none of my handsets sit together - so it's hard to notice the different colors.

The whole reason I bought this phone was because it was a *true* 5.8 GHz system and it would not interfere with the WiFi home network that I am running.I'm happy to report that this is the case - no interference.

I recommend this phone system.

During a family gathering, my daughter layed her newborn baby to sleep in an upstairs room.She soon discovered that she had forgotten to pack her baby monitor.So, I had a chance to show off this phone once again. We used our phone's monitor feature to ease our minds and allow us to have a good time, while still being able to hear when the baby woke up.Another bonus was that the phone did not ring during dinner time to disturb us because it was on monitor mode.I have the base and three additional handsets (total of 4). It is great! I even talked a few neighbors into buying this phone. Highly recommended.

VTech 2420 Accessory Handset for 2421, 2431, and 2461 Expandable Phones Review

For the money, this is the best phone system I can think of for home or small business use.The 2431 (base unit) has a speakerphone, which makes it two phones in one, as it has the ability to intercom between the base unit and the handheld.Then we bought a 2420, so we have a 3-point intercom system.As we live in an older home, the intercom and the ability to place a phone where we wanted without running phone cords was important to us, and I spend a lot less time screaming around the house to call the family members.We will purchase two more 2420s in the future, to intercom easily throughout the house.The 2420s run off the base unit, and don't need a phone line, which is fantastic not to have to pay the phone company to run lines where we want the phones.Also, the VTech handsets each have Caller ID, which is a very handy feature, they show when another handset is in use (in case you don't have call-waiting, at least you know when someone is excessively tying up the hone line), and the speakerphone on each handset is perhaps my favorite feature.We have eliminated all the corded phones in the house in favor of this system, which has clear connections even outdoors, and two houses away from us.I can send the kids to the neighbors, and can page them from the 2431 via the intercom when they need to come home.Best of all, the original 2431 handset we bought flew off the hot tub in a sudden windstorm, the battery and battery cover landed in the pool (managed to catch the phone itself), and after the battery dried, it still worked!A minor ding on the antenna did not affect how the unit performed.We are all pleased with the features of this phone.

This is overall a very good phone. I only have a couple of complaints but not many bad things I can say.

MAKE SURE YOU BUY THIS BASE PHONE AND NOT THE EXPANSION MODLE

PROS:

-Extremely large phonebook with name and number display
-Lightweight and small design
-Many ringtones including songs
-Long battery life

CONS:
-Sound can sometimes sound like there is feedback or an echo
-Talk button does not shut the phone off you must press "Off"
-Speaker could be a little louder

SVAT VISS7500 Hands Free Video Door Phone Intercom System w/5-Inch LCD & Outdoor Night Vision Security Camera (Color) Review

I was very disappointed with this product. Everything feels cheap, and it also functions that way.

Maybe it's just my specific product, but the picture quality is really, really bad. You can hardly say it's a color monitor. Even dark blue colors look white. It makes me wonder how they created the product images...

The angle of the camera is ridiculous. The camera must be placed in front of the person to see him right. I thought I could place it aside the door, but then you will not see your guest. They say it has tiltable camera lens, but actually, you can tilt it only vertically. Changing the position horizontally ends up with a picture of your guest profile.

There is no option to change the volume of the doorbell or to disable it.

To make it worse, when you turn on the camera, it makes a sound on the outside unit, making sure the person know that you are looking at him...

It is so bad that I've decided to put it aside until some other use arise.

Uniden DCT648-3 2.4 GHz Digital Expandable Cordless Phone with 3 Handsets and Digital Answering System Review

The sound quality is good on all handsets as well as the base speakerphone. The handset speakerphones are also very good. I had a Panasonic with a base speakerphone only - and it was horrible. It would clip conversations constantly.

Each handset flashes a light when there is a voice message, so even if you don't get to the base, you can see that you have a new message. Not only that - you can listen to messages from any of the handsets through their built-in speakerphones. This means you don't ever have to go to the base to listen to messages. This was a particularly fantastic bonus for me since I have a fax machine at home also, but didn't want to pay for distinctive ringing. My fax machine is set up to cut off the answering machine if it senses a fax tone, but we hated that the answering machine needed to be directly connected to the fax. Now it's not a problem at all. With the 2 additional handsets, I can see from anywhere when I have a message without having to visit the office. A great design.

Only real negative: the handsets are almost too small to cradle between your head and shoulder. By the way, I have tested the headset performance, and it is also very good.

Other things to note: handsets support distinctive ring tones, you can set up one handset and copy the phone books to other handsets, haven't run into any issues with my 802.11g wireless network.
