GE 29586GE1 Corded Desktop Speakerphone with Tilt Screen Review

Excellent phone. Easy to set up and works well. It uses an AC adapter to run the answering machine. No battery backup, not sure it would be needed. One thing I like is that "Line In Use" shows on the display if another extension on the phone line is being used. There are few quality corded phones being made these days. GE has a good one here, worth buying, and I hope they continue to make these. I was able to replace a 12 year old GE speakerphone (still works fine), an AT&T answering machine, and caller ID unit with this phone. Has many features and worth the price. I really like the large tilt screen with easy to read information. UPDATED 3/17/2010: I STILL LOVE THIS PHONE. There is something I soon discovered, however. We have "long distance alert" on our Cox phone line, which means long distance calls ring with two short rings instead of one long one. The phone counts each ring as two, which means if you have it set for "toll saver" the machine answers too soon. Same for all other calls. Set for 7 rings, it will answer after 3 or so, going to the answering machine.

StarPlus45 Amplified Phone WHI Review

I have a moderate to severe bilateral hearing loss and wear hearing aids.I cannot hear well on standard phones even ones with a volume control. On the advice of my audiologist, I looked for a phone that could provide a 40+ db increase in volume. The Krown StarPlus 45 was one of the least expensive, but feature rich models that I looked at. Competitors that I looked at with similar features were usually twice as expensive.

The phone works well with my hearing aids, which have a T-coil.I rarely even have to use the amplifier feature. The built in caller-ID is nice and the display is easy to read.

I recommend this phone if you are looking for a corded model with amplification.

ITT Corded Phone W/ Plantronics In Review

After dumping "the phone company" for Comcast Digital Voice service I wanted to replace my awful telephone w/digital answering system with one that would flash a light when a message was left on my Comcast voice mail and hopefully have a dedicated voice mail button as well. My existing phone would update the LCD display if there was a remote message waiting but it reserved the blinking light for its own message system.

I'm sure there are many phones on the market that offer the same compatibility with Comcast as this phone does (via stutter tone and caller ID/FSK) and also with other service providers but their online marketing didn't give me enough information to know for certain if it would work. After some research I read what I wanted to know and I ordered this phone from Amazon.

It's great!

- A large red LED flashes on top when there is a message waiting on the remote voice mail system (Comcast via stutter tone)
- Press a dedicated voice mail button and it turns on the speaker phone and dials right into the voice mail system (number is programmable)
- The Speaker, Headset, Mute, and Hold buttons themselves light up brightly when in use
- A large display has big bold digits and is brightly backlit when the phone is is use and also the angle of the display is adjustable
- There is a programmable phone directory (I haven't set this up yet)

Finally, I also have an older wireless Plantronics headset (CS361N) and the setup works perfectly with this phone. The phone-lifter cable even comes with this phone (it wasn't included with the Plantronics headset). I have it all configured such that if I lift the headset off its charger then the phone is automatically taken off the hook; no sequence of button pressing required to hear a dial tone or to answer a call.

As for quality, it's no worse than any other phone out there and is an incredible value when you compare it to more expensive phone, such as ones from Siemens.

If you are looking for a phone to use with your cable company's phone service then this is a good choice.

Ge Amplified Phone Review

This phone changed conversations from unpleasant to pleasant.
We interchange between the speaker phone and the normal hand set
depending on our preference. Both work very well.
We used the amplify button for soft voices, but some voices are even loud enough without it. We love the phone.

General Electric Corded Phone with Caller ID and Speakerphone (Black), 29585FE1 Review

I got this phone for a friend that I would call "Techno Deficient". He has some sight problems and did not want a cordless phone. I found this phone about a year ago and gave it to him. He loves it. Not a single issue with the phone. It is a good Grandma model, large buttons, large bright screen, and easy to use. The only thing with this phone, that was a non-issue, he never would of been able to set it up him self, so I did it for him. As I recall I needed batteries for it and after a year on the original Duracell's I put in it, it is still happy as can be. And a great price for the reliability it provides.
