AT&T E580-2 5.8GHz Extra Handset / Charger for E5860, E5862BC, E5862, E5900, E5965CSome time ago, I invested a considerable sum in my phone system, only to find a day later that AT&T was no more!My husband has MS and it was critical that he has handsets in multiple places in our homeThis year, when one handset broke, I was shocked to find that AT&T was charging almost what I paid the the entire system for a single handset! The refurbished handset I purchased on Amazon works like a charm.Thanks.

AT&T 5830 5.8 GHz Cordless Speakerphone System Review

AT&T 5830 5.8 GHz Cordless Speakerphone SystemBOTTOM LINE: You've probably already discovered the lack of full-featured consumer-level cordless phones out there, especially in the 5.8 GHz category and that you really have to move into the SOHO dual-line systems and spend a good deal more to get a full-featured phone. But the bottom line is if you are looking for a full featured, single line, consumer level cordless phone, this is it - it's not perfect, but you don't have many other options in this price range.
THE ALSO-RANS: Panasonic KX-TG2563F - feature-packed, but 2.4 GHz and bad quality reviews (just released 5.8 GHz expandable system out - probably same quality issues). Siemens 4215 - great form factor, but 2.4 GHz, no headphone jack (pricier 2-line 8800 has jack), no base functionality and lukewarm quality reviews. CIDCO's 2.4 GHz D271's - perfect feature set but not in same price range (only marketed through your local Bell company so you're not going to find a deal). AT&T's 2355 - basically the 2.4 GHz version of the 5830/40. Bought it/returned it due to poor speakerphone (don't believe it's full duplex) and handset call quality (I believe it's being test marketed only through Best Buy (as of 5/03) which indicates they may be trying to work the bugs out of the phone).
FINALISTS: The finalists were the 5830/5840 and the VTech 5831, both 5.8 GHz expandable systems. Both are made by VTech, which explains nearly identical feature sets and form factors (and model numbers). AT&T phones are designed by the VTech subsidiary Advanced American Telephones under a licensing agreement with AT&T (my guess is AAT was a Ma Bell spin-off years back that VTech acquired). As mentioned by another reviewer, it's a matter of preference whether you choose the AT&T or VTech - minor differences in feature sets (VTech 5831 has LCD and phone book on base, AT&T has talking caller ID) but similar quality. Anyway, on to the phone. I purchased the 5830 - if you want a digital answering machine, go with the 5840 but you won't get talking caller ID or a keypad on the base. Key points:
PROS:
-Call quality/construction - can't overemphasize this (base sits right by my computer setup and still have great call quality)
-Full-duplex speakerphone: you can hear and be heard at same time (an uncommon feature on consumer speakerphones)
-Talking Caller ID: comes in handy if you don't want to get off the couch to know who's calling
CONS:
-No Speed dial: No one number/one touch speed dial from either base or handset - they really dropped the ball on this one. However, dialing from phone book takes as few as 3 button pushes.
-No LCD or phone book on base unit: makes phone book dialing a little more difficult.
OTHER ISSUES:
-Message waiting indicator flashes neon blue on both base and handset - a little much as others have mentioned
-Inability to share phone books between handsets is a neutral: small business may want the same phonebook on all handsets; family may want parents/kids to have separate phonebooks
-Wi-Fi: phone transmits at 5.8 GHz base to handset but 2.4 GHz the other way. If you have Wi-Fi this may be an issue as 802.11(b) transmits at 2.4 GHz. Possible future migration of Wi-Fi standard to 802.11(g) at 5.8 GHz is less of an issue because that frequency apparently is less congested than 2.4 GHz. Side note: probably did this to save money - calls sound good to you at 5.8 GHz but not as good to party you are calling at 2.4 GHz (but you'd be oblivious to this).
The top contenders in this category each have something (different) missing. In this price range, go with the AT&T 5830/5840 (or the VTech 5831) and be done with it before you drive yourself crazy as I did.

Product Description:
This innovative cordless telephone operates on the powerful 5.8 GHz frequency. Its classic design provides comfort and ease of use. Advanced features include adjustable sound settings, the ability to use up to six handsets, a speakerphones in the handset, and a duplex speakerphone in the base. (Duplex technology lets both parties talk and be heard simultaneously.)
The dual-band (5.8 GHz/2.4 GHz) design allows the base unit to transmit with more power in the 5.8 GHz frequency band or with greater efficiency at 2.4 GHz. The phone's true duplex transmission keeps the incoming and outgoing signals from interfering with each other.
The LCD on the handset provides caller ID/call waiting information (subscription required though your local phone company). The 5830 also provides talking caller ID, which announces the name or number of incoming callers.
The 5830's expandability, up to five additional handsets for a total of six, eliminates the need to hard-wire multiple extensions throughout your home. One phone jack and one power outlet is all you need to connect the 5830 base station and handset, while each additional model 5800 handset requires only a power outlet for its compact charger/cradle. Calls can be transferred from one handset to another.
The handset receiver lights up with incoming calls and can also be set to vibrate. It stores 50 names and numbers and works with your caller ID service to remember the last 50 callers. Sound Select lets you adjust bass, treble, and midrange to your liking. A spare-battery charging system enables the telephone to work even during a power outage. Choose from eight ringer melodies. The system is backed by a one-year warranty.
What's in the Box
User's manual, quick start guide, base unit, handset, NiMH battery pack, telephone line cord, AC power adapter, wall mounting adapter

Linksys Wireless-G Router for ATT&T/Cingular 3G/UMTS Broadband WRT54G3G - Wireless router + 4-port switch - EN, Fast EN, 802.11b, 802.11g Review

Linksys Wireless-G Router for ATT&T/Cingular 3G/UMTS Broadband WRT54G3G - Wireless router + 4-port switch - EN, Fast EN, 802.11b, 802.11gThis router will work with the Sierra AirCard 875 on the AT&T network.
It has a problem delivering full 3G speed however.I cannot get over
900Kb/sec even when parked 400 ft. from the tower.Plugged into the computer, I get 2.8Mb/sec speed, same location.

The problems people are having getting this router to work on an AirCard 875 is that they must set the router up *before* inserting the aircard.
The "APN" entries must be entered correctly for proper operation. Choose "Custom" for your entries. There are two entries that must be made correctly, one is "ISP.CINGULAR" if you were a Cingular customer, and the other is the logon username; "WEP@CINGULAR.COM."If these two settings are correct, save settings, unplug router, inset AirCard, re-power router and all will work correctly. The firmware revision number of the AirCard is of no consequence as I updated my firmware to the Australian 7.2Mb/sec version with no change in performance or connectivity problems. The 4 port switch section performs at 100Mb/sec just as advertised. This router can be configured as an internet backup.A person with DSL or cable can connect that signal to the "internet" port in back of the router and it will route that source. If the DSL or cable fails, it will automatically switch to the AirCard. This router auto-disconnects the AirCard in a 'non-use' time you select, and will auto-connect on demand. This takes care of AT&T's rule against maintaining an "always on" connection (forbidden).
"IMPORTANT" If you were using your AirCard 875 in a notebook/laptop computer... The last speed/network setting you used will remain in the AirCard! If you were using the "Edge" network and then plug AirCard into the router, it will only connect to the Edge network!Select 3G in your laptop before removing the card for use in the router! (if you have 3G available, otherwise , leave set to what works in your area).

I know I went on a bit here, but someone with an AirCard 875 may question purchasing this router if they don't know first that it WILL work, and how to make it work because right out of the box, it won't work. You must enter your provider particulars first!

Linksys has a good reputation for making quality products and this is no exception.I would buy it again.

Audiovox SMT5600 - Smartphone - GSM - bar Review

Audiovox SMT5600 - Smartphone - GSM - barWanted a Bluetooth phone without all the expense and this is it. Popped my AT&T SIM card in from my Nokia and away it went. Makes and receives calls hands free through my Chrysler car radio while it sits untouched in its holster on my waist.

Syncs with Microsoft Outlook (supplied) on your PC through a USB (supplied) cable. You can set up appointments and addresses and sync them with the phone.

Screen is brilliant.Keys are a little small.Battery life is unexceptional.Menus are unintuitive.Sound is good on both ends of the call. Speakerphone is just a tad weaker than I'd like but still OK.

Bluetooth that works with Chrysler U-Connect for $50 - can't be beat!

AT&T EP5995 - 5.8GHz Expandable Cordless Answering System with Dial-In-Base Speakerphone Review

AT&T EP5995 - 5.8GHz Expandable Cordless Answering System with Dial-In-Base SpeakerphoneAfter reviewing cordless phones and looking at them, We picked this one based on consumer report and buyer reviews in addition to features and looks of course. We also needed a multi handset system and this one can support up to 8 handsets. We also needed a system that would not interfere in our wireless computer network. We had a multi handset system which was 2 years old but did interfere and would often cause problems. This was super easy to install and set up. It is similar to using a cell phone and has many of the same features. We love the ability to display pictures and animations along with being able to name each handset which we named for each room they belong in. We have always had problems with knowing where our old handsets belonged and would have to find the empty base from which it had been taken. Another cool feature is that you can record your own music or sounds for your ringer if you want. We also love the intercom capability which our old system had but this is much better. We have had these for almost a month and have had no problems with them or any of the functions or features. We have not set up our directory yet so don't know how that part works yet. The handsets are a little larger than our old ones but still very nice looking and the small bases are very stable which is much better than our old ones. The base unit is excellent in that it is really easy to use all the features on it, it has buttons so you can use the base without the handset which is always nice to be able to answer your phone when someone forgot to replace the handset! It also has a battery storage place which takes the same battery as the system and will allow your base unit to work in case of a power outage. We didn't realize this when we purchased this but would have bought the extra battery at the same time had we known.

AT&T E250 2.4GHz Accessory Handset for E2500-Series Expandable Phones Review

AT&T E250 2.4GHz Accessory Handset for E2500-Series Expandable PhonesThese phones work great for us!We have 6 addtl phones besides the base. You can plug them anywhere you have an electrical outlet, you only need the main base plugged into the phone outlet, the rest go anywhere... basement, garage, any room you want.My biggest complaint about these phones would be that you would think that a phone that initially "searches for the base unit" upon setup would also read the phone numbers programmed into the base. You have to program each phone individually. That can be annoying! But the quality and clarity of the phones are great. They work great to intercom globally or individually if you're looking for a particular family member... also you can transfer a call from one handset to the other and hang up the first handset!! That's an awesome feature... the 2nd handset remains ringing until you can get to it.

Product Description:
The E250 is a 2.5 GHz accessory handset designed for use with AT&T's E2525 and E2555 expandable phone systems. It operates on the 2.4 GHz band and employs frequency-hopping digital spread spectrum technology to provide a clear, accurate signal with less interference. The base systems (required, sold separately) support up to eight handsets, allowing you to place an extension wherever you need one, without an additional phone jack.
With just one phone jack, the system supports
up to eight extensions throughout your home.

Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the E250 has a 50-number caller ID memory, while a 50-number phone directory is provided to help you keep track of important phone numbers. You can access the base answering system from the handset, and an intercom feature lets you communicate with other handsets on the system. With conferencing, you can speak with multiple parties at the same time, while the call transfer function lets you route incoming calls to another handset location.
The redial button gives you access to the last 10 outgoing numbers, and the flash button allows you to access call waiting (with subscription to a fee-based service). An illuminated keypad makes dialing in the dark a snap, and a handset volume control lets you adjust levels to your liking. The E250 is headset compatible and comes backed by a one-year limited warranty.

Cordless handset, charging cradle, AC adapter, NiCd battery, belt clip, instructions

AT&T ATT SL82558 DECT 6.0 Answering Phone System Expandable up to 12 w/ 5 Handsets Review

AT&T ATT SL82558 DECT 6.0 Answering Phone System Expandable up to 12 w/ 5 HandsetsI've had this phone set since July 2008.It's the same basic phone as has been well reviewed by others here, the only difference being it comes with a total of 5 handsets (including the base). It's been a dependable phone until recently, and I suspect that after nearly 2 years it needs a battery change-- which I find reasonable. The answering machine works well and if you add or delete a phone number to one handset, it's automatically updated on all the others, which is really nice.It has a page feature if you lose a handset (it happens). The phones are easy to program and easy to use.

However, it's not perfect.Recently I have had problems near my computer wireless system with folks on the other side of a conversation saying they can't hear me.Hopefully, the new battery will solve that, as it's only started happening in the last few months. My biggest complaint - which I noticed from the first time I used it -- is that despite the fact I hear well, the volume is sometimes too soft and there's no way to adequately jack it up.Other cons are that you aren't notified on the handset if you have a message on the answering machine (Uniden phones tend to give you an alert), and if there's a way to pick up messages from the handset instead of the base I haven't yet figured it out.

I've had a lot of cordless phones.Unidens have died on me too quickly. In general, this AT&T is a solid, dependable model that is a good buy considering the number of handsets you get.I recommend it.
