This item is not so terribly soft that it doesn't protect your iPhone.The corners on it are perfect so that it protects your (my) phone in all the right places.Also, the camera lens is totally protected (and not obstructed), and you can still see the "apple" logo on the back of the phone, which serves (for me, anyway) as an excellent teeth/lipstick checking mirror.I have dropped my phone plenty of times, and the case has taken a bit of a beating (most noticeably at the corners on the front - and that's not from regular use), but when taken off of the phone, the phone looks brand new all around.I highly recommend this sturdy yet comfortable product to people like me who drop stuff and need protection but are looking for minimal bulk (I am a girl and need to put the phone into little purses, e.g.).Someone really put thought into its design.
